OK... suppose you do get stopped after having a few drinks. What should you do, and perhaps more importantly, What shouldn't you do? Take our little test and see if you know the right answers.

Pull over as soon as possible.

Pull over as soon as the blue light becomes annoying
Wait till you see a safe area and pull out of traffic Pull over in a dangerous area (center divider)
Roll down your window
Wait until the officer bangs on the glass
Give the information you have been asked to produce in an orderly fashion Hand over your wallet
Keep your registration easily accessible

When the officer asks for your registration, make him wait while you search for it.
Listen and respond in a civil manner.

Tell the officer he can't write you a ticket cause your innocent.
Stay in your car

Pop right out of the car so you can look the officer straight in the eye.
Do not discuss your driving record with the officer.
Say you have too many tickets and this one will push you over the limit
Keep your hands where the officer can always see them
Keep shifting around in the car as the officer approaches... cops like a challange.
Control your emotions. The officer is doing his job and isn't interested in your emotional baggage. Feel free to wail and cry. This always efects the parental instict in police officers.
Be cool, calm, and polite.

Make sure you give the officer a piece of your mind. Tell him what you really think. Policemen love honesty.
Keep your composure and don't talk unless it is necessary.
Beg the officer to let you go just this one time. This will make him feel important.
Sign the ticket if he presents you with one. Don't sign, who does he think he is anyway?
Don't be a name dropper.

Make sure you tell the officer you know some one important in the department.
Some of these answers sound silly don't they, but knowing what to do and what not to do when stopped by a police officer can make the difference between a minor incident, and a life changing (and we don't mean a positive life change) incident.
